The staff of Sanità di Frontiera
Currently, the chair of Sanità di Frontiera and the Director of the Centre for Migration of the Ortygia Business School. He was advisor at the Office of the Italian Prime Minister for international development, migration and global health during the Italian G7 Presidency, previously a representative of Save The Children to the United Nations and Director General of AMREF Italia. He had worked at various United Nations agencies and international organizations in developing countries for several years and primarily dealt with implementing emergency actions, human rights, public health and training programs in Africa, Asia, the Former Yugoslavia and Latin America.
The chair of Consulcesi Onlus, constantly involved in the front line in tackling emergencies, side by side with the communities hit by natural disasters and devastated by war. He is the founder of Osservatorio Internazionale per la Salute Onlus and the creator of the project Sanità di Frontiera, strongly supported by the Holy See with the Obolo di San Pietro (Saint Peter’s pence) thanks to the direct involvement of His Holiness Pope Francis. Furthermore, he is the founder and chair of Consulcesi Group, the largest organization in Europe dedicated to healthcare professionals, and is entered on the special professional register of journalists.
A member of the board of directors of Sanità di Frontiera – Salute senza confini – Onlus and of Consulcesi Onlus. He was the chair of the Osservatorio Internazionale per la Salute (OIS), on behalf of which he managed projects such as “Sanità di Frontiera” on the reception of migrants, earned great experience in the healthcare field. He is responsible for institutional relations at Consulcesi, a network that has walked side by side with doctors and health workers for 20 years. Since 2005, he has been a member and managing director of a business delivering services for hospitals. He has recently taken up the position of sole manager of a company qualified in research and conservation of stem cells.
Prof. Giuseppe Petrella is the chair of the OIS Scientific Committee and a member of the board of directors of Sanità di Frontiera. Since 2016, he has been the director of the School of Specialization in General Surgery of the Rome University of Tor Vergata. Since 2011, he has chaired UASSO (European-ASIA Surgical Oncology). Since 2009, he has also been the director of the School of Specialization in Gastroenterological Surgery, as well as the director of the PhD Program on Oncoplastic Surgery at the Rome University of Tor Vergata. Since 2008, he has been tenured professor of general surgery at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the Rome University of Tor Vergata and the director of the “Unità Operativa Complessa” (special operative unit) of General Surgery and Senology at the Fondazione Policlinico Tor Vergata. From 2004 to 2008, he took up the position of tenured professor of general surgery, and from 2000 to 2003, of full professor of General Surgery (SSD F08A) at the Faculty of Medicine of the Naples University of Federico II.
